Dairy UK to launch cheese export initiative
Dairy UK has announced plans to launch a Cheese Exporters Group – an initiative designed to encourage British cheese makers to focus more on export markets.

The initiative, which has been given the fill support of the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), was unveiled at the All Party Parliamentary Cheese Group reception in London earlier this week.

The key objectives of the Cheese Exporters Group will be to examine “opportunities for collaborative activity” – including product development, and the sharing of market intelligence.

“The overall objective of the initiative is to encourage British cheese makers to focus more on export markets for cheese,” said Dairy UK director general, Jim Begg.

Commenting on the initiative said UK Minister of State for Agriculture and Food, David Heath said: “I’m very pleased to give my personal support to this new Dairy UK initiative that should be very complementary to work to boost the dairy industry through improving its exports capability.”
