Speaking with DairyReporter.com this week at drinktec 2013 in Munich, Nutrinova's global commercial director, Dorothee Harre, and technical innovation pipeline manager, Dr Alex Smerz, detailed the factors that drove the development.
The first products in the Qorus portfolio are intended for use in reduced and no-calorie beverages and dairy products such as flavored milk, yogurt, and drinking yogurt
According to Nutrinova, Qorus enables dairy processors to balance sweetness and flavor, without the bitter aftertaste that is often associated with artificial sweeteners.
"This is something that really helps the industry," said Smerz.
"As for a calorie-reduced product, which for dairy is very difficult to achieve because there are a lot of calories from the protein," he said. "We really found a solution for market that was yet not there in that quality."
