Sacmi planning dairy division to offer 'complete package'
Hoping to build on growing consumer demand for drinking yogurt, probiotics drinks, and other liquid dairy products, Italian packaging machinery manufacturer Sacmi intends to set up a division dedicated to increasing its dairy-specific technological offerings.

Speaking with DairyReporter.com at drinktec 2013 in Munich last month, Sacmi's sales and marketing manager for closures and containers, Luca Nanetti, revealed the Bologna-based company's plans to increase its presence in the dairy industry.

"We have been serving the dairy market for the last, I would say, 10 or 15 years, or even more - but we have been maybe more dedicated to thermoforming or more dedicated to bottle making without really taking care of the big or complete line," said Nanetti.

"Now we realize that within the group we have many of the answers and many of the solutions that the dairy market is requiring."

"Our target now is to set up a division where we are able to really offer a complete package to the dairy industry," Nanetti added.

Earlier this year, Sacmi detailed plans to expand the appeal of its compression blow forming (CBF) technology to the manufacturers of drinking yogurts, flavoured milk, fresh milk and other liquid dairy products.
