Coveris Holdings has acquired Elldex Packaging Solutions to expand into Australasia.

Elldex is a manufacturer and importer of HDPE and LDPE flexible plastic packaging.  With more than 125 employees, it provides products to the meat, dairy, seafood and agricultural sectors.

The firm said its factory in Christchurch is nearing completion and after being progressively developed under ownership of Hellaby Holdings, including construction of a food-grade manufacturing facility, being part of Coveris would bring opportunities and challenges.

Coveris claims to be the sixth largest plastic packaging company in the world. It was formed by the combination of Exopack, Britton Group, Kobusch, Paccor, Paragon Print and Packaging and Kube Tech.

With aggregate revenues of $3bn, the company manages 65 plants across North America, Europe, the Middle East and China.

Gary Masse, Coveris CEO, said: "As the global demand for our products continues to increase, Elldex will allow us to serve our customers in this important region of the world."
