The new line features four types of shredded cheese varieties including: quesadilla, Oaxaca, asadero, and Muenster.

“Though not a traditional Hispanic cheese, Muenster has been adapted to authentic dishes because of its mild flavor and high melting factor,” the company said.

Crystal Farms’ Hispanic shredded cheeses will be available in the dairy section of the grocery stores in the Wisconsin area. The packaging will feature recommended recipes for consumers to try.

Anchor candy cheese by Fonterra

Fonterra launched bite-sized Anchor Candy Cheese with twice the nutritional content and less sugar than conventional cheese.

The products will be available throughout Asia, where a “dairy renaissance” is occurring, the company said.

Anchor Candy Cheese was launched in response to parents demanding healthier snack options to pack in their children’s lunchboxes.

“Sales trends show consumers around the world are demanding a more protein rich diet, and with tastes varying from region to region we’re working closely with our customers to make sure we deliver the products to match,” Fonterra chief operating officer global consumer and food service, Jacqueline Chow, said.

In the UK, Yoplait is reducing the sugar content in Petits Filous by 17%, with further decreases planned for other products, including Petits Filous Big Pots and Frubes.

The company said changes across the Petits Filous range will see sugar levels drop to 9.9g per 100g.

Vitamin D fortification will increase to 50% NRV per portion.

New Alpro ice cream

Alpro has launched three flavors of plant-based ice cream in the UK: Vanilla, Coconut and Hazelnut Chocolate.

The vanilla flavor has 13.5g of sugar, 8g fat and 2.3g of protein per 100g.

For the coconut version, it’s 12.6g of sugar, 8.2g of fat, and 0.2g of protein, while the hazelnut chocolate variant has 9.4g of fat, 14.6g of sugar and 0.8g of fat per 100g.

Peppermint flavored egg nog

Umpqua has updated its Old Fashion Egg Nog with a “kiss” of peppermint flavor. The company’s seasonal peppermint egg nog is rBST hormone free, pasteurized Grade A milk with vitamin D43 added prior to pasteurization.

It is a standard 3.25% milkfast product with pasteurized eggs blended with peppermint flavor and “holiday spices” and does not contain high fructose corn syrup.

The seasonal egg nog is available in carton quart sized and is distributed throughout the states of the US Pacific Northwest region.

High protein cheddar cheese crisps

High-protein cheese snack company, Cello Whisps, launched its Cheddar Cello Whisps flavor. The crisp snacks have 10 grams of protein per serving and are made with Wisconsin cheddar cheese without any preservatives or additives. The product also carries the Schuman Cheese “True Cheese” seal on its package.

According to registered dietician Brigitte Zeitlin, Cello Whisps are the ideal way to curb overeating because of their rich protein content.

"The naturally occurring sugar found in milk and dairy products is a natural, healthy form of sugar and is accompanied by the amount of protein in the item, which helps to regulate and prevent a spike in blood sugar," Zeitlin said.

"You want to avoid all products, dairy products included, that have added sugars to them in addition to the naturally occurring ones. Cheese rarely has added sugars.  However you do want to stay away from processed cheeses, as they have other unhealthy additives."

Cheddar Cello Whisps as well as its Parmesan Cello Whisps are a non-processed, single ingredient snack option with zero added sugar. Cello Whisps are sold throughout the US at retailers such as Costco and Walmart.

Coldpress adds berry flavor to almond milk range

After Coldpress’ UK launch of Raw Cacao Banana drink, the company has followed it up with another almond milk drink, Very Berry, a mix of blueberries and blackcurrants that launched at the end of November in Sainsbury's.

Coldpress says that for some, a commitment to almond milk stems from its lower cholesterol, carbohydrates, sodium and saturated fats coupled with its better-for-you armory of essential fiber, vitamin B (iron and riboflavin) and omega 3 fatty acids.

Almond Raw Cacao 500ml is currently available for £2.79-£2.99 ($3.55-$3.80) in Waitrose, Ocado, delis, independents, farm shops, health stores and garage forecourts.

Breakfast on-the-go

In Norway, Synnøve Finden has launched EarlyBird, a new series of on-the-go breakfast products. They consist of ready-to-eat mixtures of yogurt, fruits and grains.

The three Bircher Muesli pots, which comes in three flavors (strawberry, mango/passion fruit and apple), is a ready-to-eat blend of yogurt, fruits and grains in a 180g cup with a plastic spoon included.

The 100g pouch is yogurt/fruit/grain mix in strawberry/banana flavor, while the two 250g drinking yogurt variants (also with fruit and grains) are wildberries and strawberry.
