The vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) machine can seal packaging films, such as laminated polypropylene and polyethylene films like LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene) and has a full washdown functionality in wet and cold processing environments.
Michael Green, group general manager, tna, told DairyReporter the tna Arctic is ideal for any cold/refrigerated environments that require regular cleaning and is suitable to bag dairy products like grated cheese, for example.
It also supports multiple bag options, including pillow, gusseted and square bottom bags, and multipacks.
The announcement comes after the firm acquired Sabalpack, an Italian manufacturer of VFFS technology for the fresh and frozen sector, earlier this year.
Arctic 3 is the latest generation of Sabalpack’s existing arctic range of full wash-down VFFS systems.
“We’re excited to announce the integration of Sabalpack into the tna business together with the launch of the tna Arctic 3,” said Green.
“We see immense opportunities in the fresh and frozen foods sector as people continue to look for foods that blend convenience, health and indulgence.
According to Green, food manufacturers in the fresh and frozen foods sector have to adhere to some of the strictest sanitary regulations, that is why it wanted to focus on hygienic equipment design.
He said the system conforms with harsh environments and rigorous sanitation requirements. It is made with an A2 (AISI 304) stainless steel, corrosion-resistant cubicle, which ensures components including motors, vacuum pump and sealing jaws are protected from dirt or water ingress.
It can withstand intensive washdown procedures and can be integrated with other tna processing and packaging machines including multi-head weighers, conveyers, date coders, metal detectors, inserters and labelers.
