Speaking to FoodNavigator-USA at the Winter Fancy Food Show, VP marketing Har Rai Singh Khalsa said that it was not unusual for dairy brands to be involved in dairy-free products anymore, and that Dahlicious fans had been asking for more options.
“First and foremost, Dahlicious is about organic... but we’ve listened to our consumers, who love dairy, but also at times want to supplement their diet with dairy free options, so we came out with organic almond milk yogurt which has 6g of protein in every cup.
“We’re also coming out with almond milk kefir – this is a brand new product - the first organic almond milk kefir to hit the market.”
A creamier texture
While the almond-based dairy-free yogurt space is getting more crowded, with brands including Silk, Kite Hill, Almond Dream, and Amande all jostling for space; Dahlicious products have more protein, and a creamier texture, he claimed.
“The most distinctive thing about our almond milk products is our process. We imported a machine from Italy, which allows us to ground the almonds to microscopic size and when we culture those almonds, whole almonds, we are getting higher protein, higher fiber and it’s more nutritious. Each cup of our almond milk yogurt brings a whole day’s supply of nuts to the consumer.
“It has a creamier texture and much better taste.”
