Brazilian dairy company Itambé expands its milkshake packaging line
The CFA 712 machine will be installed at the firm’s Pará de Minas factory in Minas Gerais for aseptically filling combiblocSmall and combifitSmall cartons.
12,000 carton packs/hour
It can fill up to 12,000 carton packs per hour.
Antonieta Hilst, market director, SIG Combibloc South America, said Itambé is one of its biggest dairy customers in Brazil.
“The decision to bring in a fourth SIG filling machine reaffirms our partnership. We are very pleased with how satisfied Itambé is with the filling and packaging technology from SIG Combibloc, and we’re confident this will lead to further projects in the future,” she said.
Itambé partnered with SIG Combibloc in 2008. The company’s first SIG filling machine was installed at its Goiânia packaging plant for condensed milk. Other SIG filling machines are in operation at Itambé’s Uberlândia and Sete Lagoas factories.
In Uberlândia, the primary product is UHT milk, packaged in combiblocMidi 1,000 ml carton packs with combiSwift screw cap. Production is on a SIG CFA 812 filling machine. In Sete Lagoas, as in Goiânia, condensed milk is filled in carton packs from SIG Combibloc.
“We’ve always been impressed by the flexibility of the filling machines from SIG Combibloc – as regards the variety of products, the format and volume flexibility,” said Alexandre Almeida, president, Itambé.
“On a single filling machine, we can safely fill not only standard products, but innovative special products in two different formats and several volumes. These criteria strongly influenced our decision.”
Itambé processes 3.5m liters of milk each day and has more than 190 products – including various UHT milk products, yogurt, cottage cheese and sweetened condensed milk.
