Tetra Pak Pakistan has joined forces with Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to sign a dairy sector agreement.

Tetra Pak Pakistan will sponsor 15 agribusiness entrepreneurs, farmers and professionals to take part in a 24-day course covering dairy management practices as part of its Executive Certificate in Dairy Management.

The initiative also covers Tetra Pak scholarships for development of a dairy management workshop to improve productivity, cost effective and innovative agri-farming and feeding; effective farm operations and good practices and dairy technology and advancements through processing design and production planning.

Jorge Montero, MD, Tetra Pak Pakistan, told DairyReporter it was delighted to partner with LUMS in what is a ‘very important sector’ of the Pakistani economy.

The programme will help us bring in government officials into the picture as well,” he said.

The government has an important role to play in terms of modernisation of the dairy sector and by bringing in diverse participants it will be able to identify opportunities of improvement.”

Prof. Dr. Sohail Naqvi, vice chancellor, LUMS, added Pakistan needs more people who can understand and manage the dairy sector.

The collaboration will not only result in the transfer of industry knowledge in this field but lead to enhanced productivity,” he said.
