Food packaging technology supplier Synerlink has acquired Ermi, which manufactures aseptic fill-seal bottle and cup fillers for milk, desserts, yogurts and juices.

The company, based in Dreux, France, will expand Synerlink’s packaging portfolio supplying form-fill-seal and fill-seal machines for cups and bottles, end-of-line technology, packaging line integration and aftersales support.

Market growth

Eric Lesbats, president, Synerlink, said the two companies complement one another.

Ermi’s fill-seal fillers will substantially enhance our product range. This is a very exciting time for us,” he added.

Ermi is Synerlink’s fifth acquisition since joining Barry-Wehmiller in 2013.

Synerlink acquired Axone Systems of Troyes in France in 2014, Dinieper of São Paulo, Brazil in 2015; and Dairy Pack of Logroño, Spain, and Sogameca of Le Mans, France last year.

Global structure

Laurent Le Naour, president and co-founder, Ermi, said following the acquisition the company now wants to grow into new markets taking advantage of Synerlink’s global structure.

Barry-Wehmiller, based in Missouri, US, has more than 11,000 employees in more than 100 locations worldwide with revenues of $2.5bn.

Ermi is the company’s 88th acquisition.
