GEA has partnered with ABC Group to supply a EuroClass 800 milking system for the first time in Indonesia.

The herringbone milking parlor allows dairy manufacturers to milk large herds in a small space where bay spaces are 800mm or 850mm.

Indonesia is experiencing a rapid rise in demand for milk and milk products which is reflected in the growth of its dairy farming industry.

Despite its small size, the milking parlor bays ensure the milking process is fast and gentle on the animals.

The wave-shaped front gate allows the cows to find a comfortable position quickly and gives better access for attaching the milking clusters. Manufacturers can have all of the milking stalls in view and can react quickly to any problems.

Martine Snels, member, Executive Board, GEA, said ABC Group contacted the company two years ago to supply a stand-alone aseptic filling line to fill PET bottles with UHT milk and drinking yogurt.

She said over the last three years GEA has restructured itself to provide a more homogenous service to its customers worldwide. The principle is for all areas of the GEA business to work together to maximize opportunities, and that is how the contract for the milking parlor came about.

Benefits of the EuroClass 800/850/800 RE herringbone milking parlor

  • Easy to attach the milking cluster as the cow is positioned quickly
  • Large gangways for fast entry into the milking parlor
  • High cow comfort due to the stress-free entry system and open design of the milking stalls
  • Can be expanded with electronic milk management systems from GEA
  • Rapid-Exit to increase throughput by up to 15%

This OneGEA approach is now becoming part of the fabric of GEA with the whole company working as a single identity,” she said.

This project shows the customer-focused strengths of the new GEA organization.”

Rapid-Exit system

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, per capita consumption of milk is expected to rise to 20 liters in 2020 and 30 liters by 2025.

The EuroClass is available in different sizes: EuroClass 800 RE: from 2x8 to 2x25 milking stalls and EuroClass 800/850: from 1x3 to 2x25 milking stalls.

The herringbone milking parlor can be expanded on a modular basis and further components can be added to it.

The MetaTron P/S 21 milking control devices automate the milking process and give manufacturers important data at a glance. They can also increase throughput by up to 15% with the EuroClass 800 RE because it has a Rapid-Exit system.
