New Milkmaid in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, Nestlé brand Milkmaid has added a variant in its portfolio, Milkmaid Choco Topping.

Milkmaid Choco Topping can be used across a range of food and drinks; including ice cream, waffles, pancakes, milkshakes, and even as a spread for bread or a dip for fruit.

Milkmaid is made with milk sourced from pastures across the country, from hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankan farmers. It is manufactured at Nestlé’s factory in Kurunegala.

Anchor Cheese new range

Fonterra’s Anchor cheese is back, including a lactose-free option. Milk, butter and yogurt have all been part of Fonterra’s Anchor range, and now cheese is being introduced.

Fonterra Brands New Zealand director of marketing, Clare Morgan, says the addition of cheese to Fonterra’s Anchor family continues Anchor’s tradition of a love of dairy and innovation. 

As well as the traditional Tasty, Colby and Edam, there are two new additions – Protein+ and Zero Lacto.

The Protein+ has 26% more protein than Anchor Tasty and is an easy way for Kiwis to increase protein in their diets.

These new cheeses join the list of more than 160 Anchor products in more than 80 countries around the world.

Packaging revamp for Shaken Udder Kids Milkshakes

UK milkshake producer, Shaken Udder, has refreshed the packaging of its kids’ milkshakes.

Originally launched in 2013, Shaken Udder Kids has become a popular choice for parents and schools as they're low in sugar, contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and provide a healthy and nutritious choice for lunch boxes and snacking.

The company said the new packaging sports a cleaner, more simplistic design to reflect the natural and healthy credentials of the product.

Shaken Udder Kids milkshakes are available in Strawberry and Chocolate flavor, RRP 80p-£1 ($1.11-$1.39) from the Co-op, selected wholesalers and other independent stores throughout the UK.

Shaken Udder Milkshakes come in three formats, its 330ml bottles in flavors Vanillalicious, Top Banana, Salted Caramel, Chocolush and new Strawberries & Clotted Cream, its Shaken Udder Kids cartons in Strawberry and Chocolate and 750ml Uber Udder bottles in Chocolush and Vanillalicious.

The company has also announced a deal with pharmacy chain Boots to supply its 330ml bottle milkshakes to 460 stores countrywide to join Boots’ Meal Deal range.

Joseph Heler’s Cheshire Butter

British cheesemaker Joseph Heler is introducing Cheshire Butter to its portfolio after stopping making the product in the 1970s.

The creation of Whey cream is part of the cheese making process. As a result it has a different taste to sweet cream butters.

Made with 100% Cheshire cream, the only other ingredient used is Maldon sea salt flakes.

Packed in black & gold foil, the product will be initially sold regionally and on the creamery website.

Available in a small 125g (£1.25/$1.74) for specialist and smaller outlets, it is designed for smaller households and aimed at reducing food waste. A larger 250g (£2.00/$2.78) pack size will become available in the summer.

ALPRO launches new products in France

Alpro invests in 2018 the ultra-fresh department with a range of vegetable alternatives to yogurt for all tastes: coconut, almond, oats, choco-hazelnut, vanilla or fruit... the flavors are mixed and tasted in small or large formats. Products are 100% of plant origin.

Alpro has launched seven variants in 500g pots: Natural, vanilla, coconut, almond and oat varieties have a SRP of €1.69, while the peach and cherry flavors are listed at €1.85.

Also introduced are six flavors in 4x125g pots: Peach/pineapple/passionfruit; natural; raspberry/cranberry/mulberry; lemon/lime/blood orange; cherry/blueberry; and strawberry/rhubarb/apple/redcurrant – all variants retail for €1.85.

Also introduced are two desserts in 2x125g pots: Chocolate noisette and vanilla almond.

Eatlean Protein Cheese Shakers

In the UK and Spain, cheese company Joseph Heler has added to its Eatlean range with Eatlean protein Cheese Shakers.

The product, which is 66% protein, is available in two flavors, Natural and Smoked.

The 80g tube shakers have a shelf life of six months.

In the UK, the product has a RRSP of £3.00 ($4.16).

Ben & Jerry’s introduces ‘Birthday Cake’ flavor in UK

Ben & Jerry’s newest addition in the UK is Birthday Cake, which features vanilla cake batter ice cream, with pink frosting, strawberry swirls and cake pieces.

Ben & Jerry’s Birthday Cake has an RRP of £5.49.

Quicke’s unveiling new cheese at Borough Market

In the UK, Quicke’s introduced its first ever mixed milk cheese, Lady Prue, with the first wedges available from the Heritage Cheese stall in London’s Borough Market.

Named after Mary Quicke’s mother, who built the original cheese dairy at Quicke’s in the 1970s, Lady Prue combines goat’s and cow’s milk.

Lady Prue’s arrival also marks the beginning of a new partnership between Quicke’s and Heritage Cheese, run by Enrico Messora and partner Ewa Weremi.

The cheese is available at the market from Wednesday to Saturday each week, at £4 ($5.56) per 100g.

DANA UHT in the Philippines

DANA UHT milk is now being sold in the Philippines.

The products are available in 1lt, 500ml, and 250ml Tetra Paks and bottles.

The Swiss-headquartered company also now sells its long-life UHT milk also in 200ml Tetra Paks – and in different flavors as well as plain full cream milk.

DANA UHT Flavoured Milk currently comes in four flavors – chocolate, strawberry, banana and vanilla.

New Mars ice creams in France

Mars Chocolat France is expanding its range in 2018 with the arrival of five new products, all developed and produced in its factory in Steinbourg, Alsace.

There will be two versions of the M&M's stick; the M&M's Vanilla stick, a vanilla ice cream with a chocolate sauce in a crunchy coating with splashes of M&M's chocolate; and the M&M's Caramel stick, with a caramel-flavored ice cream, topped with a caramel sauce, in a crunchy coating with splashes of M&M's Peanut.

The third and fourth products see the launch of the Snickers stick and Snickers Ice Bar, which will offer a White Chocolate flavour.

Finally, the Mars ice bar will offer an Almonds version.

Müller launches Corner plain range in UK

In the UK, having already reformulated the Müller Corner Strawberry flavor so that it now has 19% less total sugar, the business has announced the launch of its first ever Müller Corner that is made with unsweetened natural Greek Style yogurt.

The Müller Corner Plain range replaces the Müller Greek Corner range and contains, on average, 27% less total sugar.

Available in three flavors: Strawberry and Goji Berry; Blueberry and Elderberry; and Raspberry and Pomegranate, the new Müller Corner Plain, which is high in protein, is available in Asda now, and other retailers throughout March, April and May.

Müller Corner Plain will be available in single format (RRP 75p) or four-packs (RRP £2.89).

Müller plans to further grow and innovate brands including Müllerlight, Müller Corner and Müller Rice, and aims to broaden their usage occasions and availability.

The business has confirmed a £100m investment over the next three years to develop, manufacture and market a new generation of branded and private label yogurt and desserts products, made from Müller Milk produced by British farmers.

Turkey Hill's new Decadent Delights

In the US, Turkey Hill’s new Decadent Delights combines ice cream with fruit to create a four-flavor selection of bars and three flavors of individual-serving parfaits.

Decadent Delights bars include Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Coconut, Tropical Mango, and Cherry.

The Cherry bar, for example, features white chocolate ice cream, swirled with chocolate hazelnut and cherry ribbons and is covered in a triple layer of nougat, cherry, and milk chocolate rolled in cherry pieces. 

The parfait selection features ice cream swirled with ribbons of fruit puree topped with whipped topping and chocolate chips. Parfait flavors include Mixed Berry, Strawberry, and Lemon Blueberry.

Decadent Delights is Turkey Hill's first new novelty in more than 10 years and marks its first entry in the growing premium novelty category. 

Turkey Hill's Decadent Delights bars and parfaits are available in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C., in select stores where Turkey Hill products are sold.

Decadent Delights are also available in Kroger stores in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Arctic Zero introduces new light ice cream with cane sugar

In the US, Arctic Zero is expanding its product line with Arctic Zero Light Ice Cream.

Made with milk and cream, the product is 280-360 calories a pint, and is sweetened with cane sugar.

Arctic Zero Light Ice Cream will join the brand's original whey protein-based and lactose-free Arctic Zero Fit Frozen Desserts in grocery freezers this spring.

"We heard our consumers loud and clear – even with indulgence, clean ingredients matter," said​ Amit Pandhi, CEO of Arctic Zero.

"Sweeteners are a significant issue of concern and conversation for consumers. Many of the lower calorie ice creams in the category use questionable sweeteners like sugar alcohols that can cause bloating and digestion issues."           

The seven flavors, which have 70-90 calories per serving with 2.5 grams of fat or less, are: Cookies & Cream; Chocolate Chunk; Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cookies; Mint & Chocolate Cookie;     Vanilla Bean; Cookie & Brownie Dough; and Toffee Crunch.

All flavors are non-GMO verified, Kosher and contain rBST free dairy. 

Arctic Zero Light Ice Cream will be available at natural and traditional grocers in the spring of 2018.

Lactalis Nestlé Chilled Dairy launching Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg range in the UK

Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg range, Sweden’s no. 1 quark product, is launching in supermarkets in the UK this month.

The range includes Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Single Pots, Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Natural and Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Drinks.

Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Single Pots are available in three flavors – Vanilla; Raspberry; and Peach and Passion Fruit – the150g pots contain 17g of protein per pot but are also low-sugar and fat-free.

All three products are available now in the chilled yogurts aisle at Asda. The Raspberry and Vanilla variants are also available at Waitrose and Ocado, with an RRP of £0.95.

Available in a 500g pot, Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Natural has been created as an alternative to Greek yogurt or cream cheese. Low sugar, fat free and with 30g of protein per ½ pot Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Natural is available in the chilled yogurts aisle at Asda, Waitrose and Ocado now, RRP £2.49.

The Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Drinks are available in two flavors – Peach & Passion Fruit, and Raspberry & Vanilla – in 330ml bottles and contain 23g of protein per bottle. As well as being high in protein, the Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Drinks are low fat and lactose free.

Nestlé Lindahls Kvarg Drinks are now available in the chilled aisle at Asda with an RRP £1.50.

Campina introduces Campina Organic

FrieslandCampina’s Dutch brand, Campina, has launched a new range of daily-fresh organic dairy products: Campina Organic.

The organic milk, buttermilk and yogurt are produced in a sustainable way by Dutch farmers. Campina Organic is packed in a new climate-neutral packaging of organic material that can be fully recycled.

Campina Organic complies with the European regulations for organic food.

Additionally, all 140 Dutch Campina Organic farmers are annually checked by inspectors of Skal, an independent organisation supervising the organic production in the Netherlands.

The new packaging of Campina Organic is climate-neutral and can be fully recycled. The cap and the coating are made of certified polyethylene obtained from organic residual material.

My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream moves in to Canada

My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream is expanding into the Canadian market in early April.

Made with a scoop of frozen cashew cream and wrapped in sweet rice dough, My/Mo Mochi Cashew Cream Frozen Dessert is a vegan-friendly snack.

Each mocha ball is 100 calories.

My/Mo Mochi Cashew Cream Frozen Dessert will be available in retail packs of six in the freezer aisles of Metro and Longo's supermarkets.

Ben & Jerry’s adds new flavor to its topped range

Available now in the UK, Topped Pretzel Palooza is the newest flavor from Ben & Jerry’s.

The Ben & Jerry’s Topped Fairtrade ice cream has vanilla malt ice cream, tied together with a chocolatey hazelnut swirl and chocolatey pretzel chunks.

Topped Pretzel Palooza sits alongside the rest of Ben & Jerry’s Fairtrade Topped family; Topped Salted Caramel Brownie; and Topped Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough.

Ben & Jerry’s Topped Pretzel Palooza has an RRP of £5.49.

Breyers delights Minis launched

In the US, Breyers is introducing new Breyers delights Minis, a 4-ounce cup of the Breyers delights ice cream line.

The Minis are 70-80 calories and have 5g of protein per 4-ounce cup, and are available in two variants, Vanilla Cupcake and Creamy Chocolate.

So Delicious Dairy Free launches new Decadent Dessert Flavors

So Delicious Dairy Free is launching five frozen dessert flavors in the US.

Available in limited edition packaging, the new desserts are available in cashewmilk flavors: Bananas Foster and Peachy Maple Pecan; and coconutmilk flavors: Blueberry Cardamom; Cold Brew Coffee; and Toasted Coconut Key Lime:

The new dairy- and soy-free flavors are Non-GMO Project verified, gluten-free, certified vegan and, when relevant, made with organic coconut.

Olive cream cheese from Arla in Germany

In Germany, Arla Buko has introduced a new cream cheese variant: Mediterranean Olive.

The product is available in a 200g tub for €1.39.

Like the entire product portfolio, the new variety is suitable for vegetarians, gluten-free and produced without rennet.

Blue Bunny at-home ice cream sundae line

Blue Bunny’s line of ice cream, Load’d Sundaes, is meant to recreate the out-of-home ice cream sundae experience, the company said.

Load'd Sundaes does not require softening after taking it out of the freezer. Load'd Sundaes include ingredients such as cookies, nuts, chocolate pieces and syrups packaged in a single-serve container.

The new line comes in eight flavors:  bunny tracks, chocolate brownie bomb, cookie crunch ‘n fudge, cookie dough co., mint chocolate chunk, salted caramel pecan, peanut butter bunny, and strawberry shortcake.

Each 8.5-ounce cup is sold for a suggested retail price of $2.99 and will be available throughout the US at major grocery and convenience stores starting in April.

Bubbies Ice Cream launches vegan mochi

Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream & Desserts launched a vegan line of mochi in mango, cherry, vanilla, and mint flavors.

The outer layer, mochi dough, is made from rice flour and sweetened for a soft and chewy texture.

Bubbies vegan mochi frozen desserts has 80 calories per serving and is gluten free, non-GMO, Kosher, Celiac supported.

The company recently expanded product from its home base of Hawaii to Arizona to keep up with US demand in early 2018.

Applegate natural cheese line

Applegate has launched a new natural cheese line hitting stores in April, made from a transparent, traceable milk pool sourced from pasture raised cows on independent farms in the US Midwest region.

Applegate Naturals Sliced and Shredded Cheese come in six sliced varieties including a “proudly not-processed” American-style Colby, and three shredded options in an Italian blend, medium cheddar, and Mexican blend.

The other sliced varieties include medium cheddar, provolone, American-style Colby, Muenster, pepper jack, and mozzarella with the addition of Swiss slated for 2019.

The range will be available in the US at select retailers, such as Hy-Vee, Meijer, Publix, Sprouts, and Whole Foods Market, with a suggested retail price of $4.99 per package.

Marble Slab Creamery and MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream limited edition offerings

Marble Slab Creamery and MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream have launched limited edition ice cream offerings including red velvet s’mores ice cream, red velvet s’mores shakes, and red velvet waffle cones, which will be available in stores in the US through May 6, 2018.

The red velvet s’mores ice cream is made in-store with mini marshmallows and graham cracker topped with Hershey’s chocolate syrup.
