Belgian company FAM, a global manufacturer of cutting equipment for the food industry, has launched three new centrifugal shredders for cheese.

FAM said the shredders are operator friendly and versatile, as cut shapes can be changed in minutes thanks to the interchangeability of the lightweight cutting heads. They offer improved consistency of shreds and have a low cost of ownership as the disposable blades are inexpensive.

A spokesperson for the company told DairyReporter the blades can be recycled.

The FAM Centris 400C was developed for smaller and mid-sized companies. The FAM Centris 400C Optitec and FAM Centris 400C Hytec offer increased shredding capacity, thanks to TurboTorque Technology. The latter shredder has the highest level of hygiene available on the market, the company said, adding it has USDA Dairy Division Acceptance. Both were designed for cheese processors looking to make optimal use of limited floor space. The company said they “increase productivity while minimizing costs and maximizing profits.”

All three shredders are powered by the new patent pending SureShred 16C cutting head, the first ever cutting head to receive USDA Dairy Division Acceptance. The SureShred 16C features Set & Forget technology. It can be preset so the shred size remains consistent. No adjustments or measuring tools are needed, even after cleaning.

The SureShred 16C, which consists of 16 cutting stations, increases capacity, and can be used on hard or soft cheese that is sticky or dry, and for V-shreds, oval shreds and/or crescent shreds.

FAM also developed a new grating head that can be used with the new centrifugal shredders. The grating head is capable of cutting a new variety of shreds, increasing the cutting versatility and reducing the number of machines needed in the production line.

Partnerships

FAM recently expanded its partnership with Deville Technologies, a Canadian-based company supplying manufacturing technology for the food industry.

Deville Technologies has a special focus on cheese, allowing customers to buy complete cheese cutting solutions.

Deville Technologies is the exclusive North American distributor of the FAM cutting machines, while FAM is the exclusive European distributor of the full line cheese cutting solutions of Deville Technologies.
