Rousselot expands ProTake hydrolyzed collagen range

Rousselot, a Darling Ingredients brand and provider of collagen-based solutions, is extending its ProTake portfolio of hydrolyzed collagen.

Now available in three variations − ProTake Bar, ProTake Powder and ProTake Foods – the range of clean label solutions is designed for reformulating applications with increased collagen content, reduced fat and sugar levels, as well as enhanced taste and texture.

The full portfolio was presented via an Exhibitor Showcase in the New Product Zone at Fi Connect 2020.

Rousselot said the ProTake portfolio has been developed specifically to help producers meet the demands of consumers looking for indulgent yet healthier ways to complement their diet with beneficial nutrients, while also being able to deliver on the taste and texture experience.

According to an Innova consumer survey, globally, on average 72% of consumers report that texture is important to deliver a more interesting experience in food and drinks, and two in five people consider flavor a key purchasing factor.

The company said the range of hydrolyzed collagen addresses formulation issues such as solubility, off-taste and stabilization, bringing final products a step closer to fitting with consumer demand.

As consumer expectations for food and beverage varieties continue to become more sophisticated, the industry is facing rising pressure to deliver cleaner functional products that are both healthy and indulgent​,” Claude Capdepon, global coordinator, Rousselot Application Laboratories, said.

The formulation process of these products can, however, be challenging as one size does not fit all. Producers require innovative ingredients that are not only tailored to consumer preferences, but also the specific application like bars, powders, savory snacks and soups, baked goods and dairy foods.
