Italian company Unionplus Srl, a part of the Podini Group SpA in Bolzano, has inaugurated the activities of its new production plant in Nogarole Rocca in the province of Verona.

"This production plant plays an important role in the Podini Group's project to expand, complete and give continuity to the offer of raw materials of functional products to the Italian food industry," said company CEO Stefano Podini.

Unionplus' range of dairy products complements the range of sugar products offered by its sister company Maxi Srl, which has been a strategic partner of leading Italian food companies for over 40 years.

"The economic and political world has recognised our courage and tenacity in making an investment of over €5m during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequent crisis that severely affected our sector, halving the export of Italian food products, confirming that Unionplus has created around 20 new jobs in the province of Verona, where the unemployment rate has created many problems,” Podini said.

"The company expects its turnover to grow by more than €30m euros in 2021, with 90% of sales still concentrated in Italy but with an already stable customer base in six different countries," said sales manager Francesco D'Apice.
