RUPP AG, headquartered in Hörbranz, Austria, has announced the purchase of Irish cheese ingredient company Ingredient Solutions.

Dr Josef Rupp, CEO, said the acquisition, part of RUPP AG’s international expansion, will open up new markets in Europe.

RUPP AG said the companies not only complement each other from a market perspective, but also with respect to product portfolio.

The Irish company will continue to operate independently, and RUPP AG said it will profit from synergies and ‘know-how transfer.’ The managing director of 20 years will also remain with the company.

Ingredient Solutions, based in Boherbue, Co. Cork, was founded in 2000 by Ian Galletly. The 100-strong team, based in Ireland and the UK, provides a fully-integrated service covering all aspects of cheese, from consultancy, product design and prototype development to full production. The company produces about 12,000 tons of different cheese products annually.

Founded in 1908, private cheese dairy Rupp produces processed and natural specialty cheeses under the Rupp and Alma brands at four locations in Europe and Asia. The company is also active in the B2B segment. With more than 750 employees worldwide, Rupp achieved sales of €235m in 2021. More than 90% of production is exported to 65 countries. The main plant, in Hörbranz, became operational in 2008.
