PepsiCo and Starbucks are partnering to distribute RTD coffee and energy drinks from Starbucks in Latin America, eyeing up a market worth $4bn and projected to grow by 22% over five years.

The agreement covers the marketing, sale and distribution of RTD beverages such as Starbucks Frappuccino chilled coffee drinks, Starbucks Refreshers (energy drink range), and Starbucks Double Shot Espresso and Cream.

Consumers in the Caribbean, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Uruguay will get Starbucks’ beverages in 2016. Distribution in other Latin American countries is expected to follow.

The partnership will use Starbucks’ coffee expertise and PepsiCo’s distribution network and experience in the region.

PepsiCo and Starbucks have partnered in the US for more than 20 years with the North American Coffee Partnership, a venture in the RTD coffee category. The NACP today has around 97% market share in RTD coffee.
