It aims to strengthen its presence in Asia Pacific

French dairy multinational Danone has announced that it will acquire health-focused Australian dairy company Made Group.

The company has a range of functional dairy brands, including gut-health yoghurts and high-protein RTD products.

The acquisition, says Danone, will strengthen the company’s presence in the APAC region. As well as a significant presence in its home country of Australia, Made Group also has traction in New Zealand and across Southeast Asia.

Furthermore, with sales of more than €300m for the fiscal year ending June 2026, it would contribute substantially to Danone’s APAC business.

“With its strong portfolio of brands and healthy nutritional products, focusing on gut health and protein, Made shows an impressive track record of rapid and profitable growth,” says Danone’s CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique.

“Danone shares our commitment to health and a passion for innovation, and we are excited about what comes next,” adds Made Group CEO Amanda Butler. “Together we will access new infrastructure, capabilities and R&D expertise to accelerate our growth across the region. We are proud of what the team has built and excited about what comes next.”

Alongside its Made Group acquisition, Danone is also announcing that it will acquire the remaining 49% stake in its dairy joint venture with Saputo Dairy Australia.

Danone has already established its presence in Australia through this joint venture, in the form of brands Yopro, Activia and Ultimate.

Both transactions are subject to regulatory approvals and are, according to Danone, expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.

These transactions come in the wake of Danone’s planned acquisition of UK meal replacements brand Huel earlier in the year.
