Murray joined the Co-op as Commercial Director of Fonterra’s Global Markets business in 2023, before becoming Fonterra’s Chief Financial Officer in 2024. Recruitment for Fonterra’s next Chief Financial Officer will begin immediately, the company said.
But Murray will remain with Fonterra until the end of the calendar year, supporting a smooth transition.
Fonterra said that he has helped oversee the divestment of Mainland Group, Fonterra’s enterprise resource planning transformation, and a number of other key initiatives that have positioned the Co-op for the future.
CEO Richard Allen said: “I would like to thank Andrew for his contribution and leadership. He has brought clarity, discipline and momentum to important changes the Co-op has undertaken. At the same time, he has strengthened our finance capability and built a highly capable team. We wish him success in his new role.”
The company sold its consumer and integrated business in a deal with Lactatis to refocus the company on a B2B-led strategy. The plan is to focus the company on ingredients and food service.
Allen served as head of ingredients before coming CEO and had 18 years working at the company working in several global roles including as president of the Atlantic region and vice-president of food service. He took over from Miles Hurrell, who stepped down after eight years, at the helm.
He made three new appointments earlier this year.
Teh-han Chow, CEO Greater China, responsible for Fonterra’s Ingredients and Foodservice businesses across Greater China.
Gaby Amade, President Global Markets, in charge of the Ingredients and Foodservice businesses across Oceania, the Americas, Southeast Asia, Japan, the Middle East and Europe.
Elisa Giusti, Chief Growth and Strategy Officer, accountable for developing integrated market, product and group strategies, portfolio optimisation, innovation and global new business development.
