Andreas Kopp is helping Nestlé celebrate the 150th anniversary of its first ever milk powder with a replica tin.

Monica Malonni-Kopp, general manager, Andreas Kopp, based in Switzerland, said the firm’s speciality is customized tin boxes in various shapes and sizes.

The tins carry embossing and high quality printing, with the company's main markets in Switzerland, France, Germany and Italy.

The milk powder tin for Nestlé was produced at the end of last year, and was made for their 150th anniversary this year. It’s a replica tin of the first milk powder tin it made 150 years ago,” she said.

Nestlé created the first ever milk powder in 1867 in Switzerland, in response to premature babies who could not be breastfed.  It was created at a time when many infants died of malnutrition due to a lack of effective breast milk alternatives.

Henri Nestlé heard about the problem and gave a child his new ‘farine lactée’ infant food. It was the only product that the boy can digest, and he survived.

Malonni-Kopp said Andreas Kopp recently partnered with Laeckerli Huus in Basel, Switzerland, to launch a VW Bulli tin box.

The tin packages a 550g assortment of cookies and caramels and is a collectors item for fans of the VW Bulli bus.

The 27.5 x 11.5 x 12.5 cm bus contains 150g Basler Läckerli Original, 120g Läckerli au chocolat “lait”, 220g cream caramels, 2 Flûtes de Bâle Caramel, and 2 Flûtes de Bâle Gianduja.

The product is already sold out and Andreas Kopp has launched a green version this month.
