Coveris to close US plant, axing 100 jobs
Chris Swalm, corporate marketing communications manager, Coveris, confirmed the 20-year-old plant at Masters Boulevard and S.C. 81 will close by Q3, 2017.

“The plant, which began operations in 1995, employs approximately 100 people and manufactures injection molded products for the personal care market,” he said.
“In connection with the closure, Coveris will transfer strategic programs to its facility in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. This move further aligns the company’s manufacturing capabilities, improves overall asset utilization and helps balance installed capacity and demand.
“The Anderson S.C. facility is part of the Coveris’ Global Rigid Packaging business unit which operates more than 18 plants and employs approximately 3,200 people around the world.”
Gary Masse, who became CEO of Coveris in 2014, said the move would allow the company to better utilize its existing asset base and focus on future investments within its strategic centres of excellence in injection and thermoforming technologies.
Rigid Packaging North America
Coveris took ownership of the facility in Anderson when it acquired KubeTech Custom Molding in 2014 to create a Rigid Packaging North America business unit. Both KubeTech and Coveris are affiliated portfolio companies of private equity firm Sun Capital Partners.
“This action provides a significant expansion of our rigid packaging capability in North America and will help us leverage this capability in the context of the larger Coveris organization,” said Masse at the time.
Coveris will be exhibiting at the International Production & Processing Expo from January 31-February 2, 2017, at the World Congress Center - Atlanta, Georgia.
