British processor Crediton Dairy has completed the £2.2m ($3.6m, €2.7m) installation of a new high-speed filling line - an investment designed to meet increasing demand for its existing range of ESL dairy drinks.

Devon-based Crediton believes the new 14,000 litres per hour filler, which was manufactured by Japanese firm Shikoko, will allow it meet growing demand for its existing range of extended shelf life (ESL) products and provide a platform for the launch of others over the next 18 months.

The firm currently manufactures a wide range of long life dairy drinks, including Moo brand plain and flavored milk range, Mars Family Refuel and Galaxy brand chocolate milks, and Flora pro activ brand functional milk.

“The installation of this new filling line is an important part of our strategic plan for the growth and development of Crediton Dairy. It gives a further major boost to our processing capacity and capabilities and, most importantly, will equip us with the necessary balance of scale and agility to respond to the needs of customers and consumers alike,” said Crediton Dairy managing director, Tim Smiddy.

“The greater speed and flexibility of the new line will allow us to grow sales of our existing range of ESL products through the introduction of new carton sizes and formats," he added.
