Testing creates peace of mind for aseptic packaging
The company's water-quality testing solutions touch upon a wide range of industries, including potable water, wastewater, petroleum refining and food/beverage processing.
Growing up
Their services for aseptic packaging, though, are growing by leaps and bounds, Shirley Ward (CHEMetrics international business manager) told FoodProductionDaily.com. "Of all the sectors we serve, aseptic food and beverage packaging is the fastest-growing by far," she said.
Aseptic packaging materials and machinery commonly are sterilized with a hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution (30-35%). After the final rinse-off before the product is married to the packaging, the concentration must be reduced to 0.5 ppm.
Dairy directive
The firm recently contracted with a North American dairy processor on testing of its ultra-high-temperature (UHT) aseptic packaging. The processor selected CHEMetrics K-5543 H202 Vacu-Vials, self-filling reagent ampoules, and the V-2000 multi-parameter photometer to ensure their H202 levels are in line.
According to CHEMetrics, their testing products provide quick, accurate results. Additionally, the system reportedly is more intuitive than similar systems, requiring shorter training periods and creating fewer operator errors.
The manufacturer offers visual and instrumental testing products for food manufacturers putting a range of products into aseptic packaging, such as yogurt, pudding, vegetables and other extended shelf-life edibles. The items also are suitable for juices, milk products and other drinks.
