Canada introduces new support program for dairy processors

The Canadian government has announced the launch of the Supply Management Processing Investment Fund, worth C$292.5m (US$229.3m), to help processors of supply-managed commodities increase their competitiveness and resilience in the face of evolving markets.

Recent analysis by Kite Consulting in the UK shows dairy farm costs of production will continue to rise considerably in the coming months, with break-even milk prices likely to exceed 40 pence per liter (52 cents) later this year.

Ireland’s Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine said while nothing is off the table, there are no concrete proposals currently.
