Mochidoki hits US stores
New York-based mochi ice cream company Mochidoki offers a line of premium Japanese inspired desserts.
Founded in 2015, Mochidoki supplies high-end restaurants and hospitality groups including Nobu and Wynn Resorts. Mochidoki's flavours range from the likes of salted caramel with cracked candy to the more traditional red bean.
The group launched a direct-to-consumer website in 2018. It operates bricks-and-mortar shops in Manhattan's SoHo and Upper East Side, with a third location - in Los Angeles planned for mid-2022.
Now, Mochidoki is expanding into US grocery stores with a line-up of eight of its most popular dairy and vegan flavours. In CPG, the company will launch: purple sweet potato, black sesame, matcha, strawberry, cake batter and vanilla chip. It will also offer two vegan options, passion fruit and mango.
In order to ensure the 'pillowy' delivery of its desserts in retail, the company has developed patent-pending packaging that not only retains the shape but also doubles as a serving board.
