Dairy products play an vital role in disease prevention, and could save the US healthcare system billions if consumers ate them at recommended levels, according to the Dairy Research Institute (DRI) president.
A calcium-rich diet, made up of dairy foods and other fortified
products, does not lead to weight gain in young girls, concludes a
US trial, designed to help remove some of the barriers to higher
intake of the nutrient.
The US government could save more than $200 billion in healthcare
costs in the next five years if it could persuade American adults
to eat three or four servings of dairy foods each day, estimate the
