Canadian dairy giant Saputo stormed into the top 10 in 2012 - an accomplishment Rabobank has attributed to the company's acquisition of Dean Foods' Morningstar business.
"...Saputo entered the top-10 for the first time on the back of the Morningstar acquisition, as it continues to play a large role in consolidating the North American industry," said Rabobank's Dairy Top 20 report.
The Quebec-based firm reported dairy sales revenue of $8.4bn (€6.5bn) in 2012 - a $1.5bn increase on the $6.9bn it recorded in 2011.
