Dodoni's plant-based offering
Greek dairy manufacturer Dodoni is famous for its PDO feta, which is exported as far as Australia and the US, but apart from highlighting its traditional offering, the company also introduced a range of plant-based yogurt.
Launched only two months ago in Greece, the yogurts are oat-based and come in three flavors – apple and cinnamon, vanilla, and plain – with three more flavors currently in the works. Besides oat (10%), ingredients include pea protein, starch, rapeseed oil, sugar and live cultures and flavors.
As for why a well-established Greek dairy company has chosen to release dairy-free products, export area manager Vassilis Kaplanidis said: “We see the trend in that direction. Young people are increasingly aware about dairy’s impact on the environment and look for alternative foods. We on the other hand need to have presence there.”
