Nestlé has come to the rescue after local cows stopped producing milk because of a volcanic eruption.

Mount Kelud erupted last Thursday on the island of Java, Indonesia, affecting an area where Nestle collects milk.

Nestle has taken food to the cows and asked the government how it can provide products, water and assistance. Cows have been stressed on the dairy farms and it will be some time before they can produce milk again.

Three people were killed when Mount Kelud erupted last week, and tens of thousands of people were evacuated. Ash and debris covered a large area, including the city of Surabaya 130km away.
