The European Union has slapped anti-dumping duties on Chinese
imports of citric acid after an investigation concluded two
European producers have been injured by unfair competition.
Tate & Lyle has been forced to close its UK citric acid
operations in the face of intense competition from Chinese imports
and oversupply in the world market.
The federal food safety inspection unit has approved an additional
batch of additives, antimicrobals and agents for use as processing
aids directly on meat and poultry products.
The European Court of First Instance confirmed this week that
Jungbunzlauer (JBL) and Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM)
engaged in an illegal citric acid price fixing cartel, and has as a
result upheld the original fines imposed.
